I want to get a new head unit for my 1997 so I can use Bluetooth or at least an aux port without making it look weird. I looked at our retro sounds, but everything they have looks too old. Have any ideas? Truck with the original tape deck to get your attention
Look up the Blaupunkt in Frankfurt or Bremen on Google. That’s what you need to find.
I came here to say this. It’s for my 1998 BMW M. Looks right at home in her! There have been some strange Bluetooth problems, but other than that, it’s been great.
Wow, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a late-1990s Ford cabin that clean and whole.
Is the size a din and a half? As you said, you looked at Retrosound. They have a head unit that would look good in a late-1980s Bronco or F-150. It even has a Ford stamp on it. They also have a single-din-sized one for BMWs and Mercedes-Benz from the late 1980s that wouldn’t look out of place either.
I recommend these because they’ll look a lot like the stock ones: plain black faces with a simple screen.
I bought it from the first owner, who only used it to pull his tent. 105k and garage kept. It’s a real time capsule, which is why I’m trying to bring it up to date without taking away from its 90s charm.
There is only one din in this radio. I like the Ford one Retro has, but it’s not quite right, and it costs a lot for something that isn’t quite right.
I might still pick it, but I have a hard time making decisions.
I have no idea but I like this car perspective a lot.
Blaupunkt bremen swr 46 DAB! Superb old looks/modern kit.
I just put a JVC kd-x470bhs in my '94 Miata and it made the speakers sound great. The color can be changed to match the stock ones, which I thought was cool, and it has 5v outputs.
Connect a Bluetooth device to the back of the head. You can keep the radio you already have, but you can now play Spotify through the tape deck.
People on one of the Ford OBS Facebook pages fix up these radios so they still look like they did when they were new.
