What do y’all think about putting a subwoofer in the doors?

Hey everyone,

I’m working on upgrading the Bose system in my Taycan. Here’s the current setup:

  • Tweeters on the dash
  • Center speaker (midrange) on the dash
  • Two speakers in the doors (a 4-inch and a 6.5-inch midrange/woofer)

I’m planning to replace the tweeters with GS10s and the center speaker with a GS25. I’ve also been advised to put another GS25 and a GS8ND2 subwoofer in the doors.

My question is about the GS8ND2 in the doors. I’ll add sound dampening, but I’m not sure if it’s a good idea to put a subwoofer there. Could it cause rattles? Is this setup worth it, or should I consider a GS60 and GS40 in the doors and just upgrade the subs in the trunk?

Would love to hear your thoughts on this!

That sounds like a cool setup. Does the center channel play music, or is it just for alerts and stuff?

A sub in the door might be overkill.

Overkill in what way? Too much bass?

Yeah, mostly. It could cause too many rattles, and the extra weight might not help either, depending on how much that matters to you.
