Brother just brought a new project car home. Came with a Jerry rigged sound system. What quality and kind of equipment is in here.
That Jerry wired thing seems like a solid bespoke setup from the '90s or '00s, haha.
Rockford Fosgate has been around for a long, and they still have a lot of fans.
In terms of what you can see, there seems to be two subwoofers, a capacitor in the center, and two amplifiers. They are clearly older, but I’m not sure what brand the amplifiers and capacitor are. Perhaps someone who knows them can provide some light on the matter. The subwoofers are Punch Series P3s, although I’m unsure of their age and specifications.
What type of vehicle is that? Inquiring mind wants to know
Used a Nissan hatchback for part of it. Even with a terrible charging mechanism and voltage that I could never get steady enough, they strike hard. I would use the method again in a heartbeat if given the chance.
2007 P3’s
They really are good
The subs are certainly excellent subs (or at least they were in their day), so I’d recommend running them assuming the surrounds are in good shape and the subs themselves aren’t blown. Assuming everything is still functional, the amplifiers are also likely OK to use.
It’s so easy to connect them up and give them a go, I may as well do it.
About twenty-two years ago, I had Rockford amplifiers and subwoofers. I stashed them away in my carport. They played exactly as wonderfully as I remembered when we placed them in his truck four years ago, when my eldest son turned sixteen. May it be successful for you.
In retrospect, the Power series amplifiers were fantastic, and they hold up well even now.
While the installation seems OK from the outside, the concealed wiring beneath the board are probably not as neat.
Almost as valuable as the amplifiers are the end caps. If sold now, the two amplifiers, in their current condition with end caps, would fetch $700.
The Rockford Power 750s are visible. The second one on the right seems like a 4 channel to me since it’s somewhat broader, but I don’t know for sure. Also, it’s obvious that it’s a power series. According to my recollection, the Power Series were the most advanced model.
Would’ve been a sick setup in the early 2000’s for sure!! I have some speakers from that time I still use to this day. If it works, use it, definitely, and if it doesn’t, I’m sure someone would pay decent money for the box setup
Ahhhhh. One of those fantastic “I subscribed to car audio magazine for a year, and only looked at the pictures” 1999 installs. Pimp my ride wire mess and zip ties included I’m sure
