Subwoofer Suggestions

I’ve been thinking about getting something else to replace my Alpine R10. I don’t feel like the sound quality is outstanding. My expectations are high since I mostly use home audio and have a very pricey, high-quality system. The punch I’m searching for is simply not there in my Audi S6. Even with my remote sub control set quite far down, there is still a lot of bass. Perhaps I should have better door speakers? Would I get much of an outcome if I just replaced the subwoofer?

A nice sub is Type R. I’ve always believed that the cost factor made it exceed its limits. Open that Ski hatch and you’ll be happier.

Reduce the gain and ensure that the amp’s bass boost is off. Bass should be significantly reduced by both methods to more balanced levels. It’s nice if you can obtain adequate bass with less gain.

It doesn’t seem like you can adjust the sub’s phase or time. Have you tried putting it in the seat, on the floor, in the trunk, etc.? A new sub won’t change the significant influence that location and phase play.

Yeah being that close to the back seat can’t be helping

Build a box for it. Looks like its in a prefab.

You dont get enough “punch” but there is too much bass, is that right?

For that sub, I would start with a new box that has a port or a resonator.

I still miss the setup I had with a 12 in P3D4 powered by a Mrv M500 from Rockford Fosgate! That amplifier will not let you down.

How much power are you giving it?

I own two JL W3-10s. The 300 watts I had at 4 ohm was powerful, but it didn’t quite give me the feels I was after. The second was added, and I feel much better.
