Replacing 8 stock speakers and installing a 12in sub in trunk

Putting in a 12in sub in the trunk and replacing 8 stock speakers. Is this price too high for what it’s worth?

Get at least C2 speakers.

If it’s in the trunk, why does it need a shallow mount sub? If you want to save money, I would choose a 12" W6, an 8" W7, or a different name for a bass sub. If you don’t need a lower mount, it will sound better.

I think this is a good price, but what they’re really giving you is the JL name and the extras like RCA cables, wires, and bass know. There’s no way I’d ever pay $50 for a bass knob.

Unfortunately for the JL Audio amps you have to buy their bass knob. No way around it as far as I know, could be wrong though

People here will always say “it’s too expensive” to the OP.

Remember that most of the people who answered are young, poor, live in a zip code where the median family income is $36,000, and drive worn-out 1999 Ford Explorers.

That’s fine for the rest of us in the real world. Besides that, it’s pretty cheap. We would charge a lot more for that job, as would most places you can trust.

Besides that, there are things that can change, like the car you drive, where you live, how much soundproofing is done (please do this, go Resonix), what kind of DSP is used, and how carefully the shop installs it.

This view is really silly. Nerds with extra cash post most of the comments on an AV site on Reddit. They want the original poster to save $1,000 on installation work, do it themselves, and then buy a DSP with the money they saved.

3k for a car audio fix that doesn’t have a DSP or a song is a waste of money.

It’s what almost every post here says. I’ve never seen an OP post a picture of a store price that wasn’t lowered.

I already said this, but I’ll say it again. Not all of them want to do it too. Some people want to do it but don’t have the time, skills, tools, space, know-how, or drive to. It’s time for them to pay for something and listen to music. That would be a stupid answer if I asked for a good restaurant tip and you told me to cook my own meat. That’s not what I asked for. I don’t want to cook my own meat. I don’t want to do that. I need someone else to do it. Why is that so hard to understand?

Yeah, kind of. As shops go, the prices for labor and parts are fine. You don’t need those extra speakers, so don’t waste your money on them. Just do the 6x9 in the back deck if you’re going to do any rear speakers. I would, however, just get better fronts and keep the stock rears if it were me. The 6.5 in the back doors is a waste of time and money unless your only goal is to make them louder. Another thing that stands out to me is that they’re selling you two-amp kits when that could be done on a single 1/0 run with distribution blocks. It would be better and probably a little less expensive as well.

The only thing that is wrong with this build is that it doesn’t have a DSP.

The installation gear with the JL name is good. It all works out because they’re giving you a deal on a lot of other stuff as well.

The important question is: Have you looked into this shop? Do they really do good work? It’s all worth the money if they do.

If I had the room and money, the only thing I would change is to use the HO W3V3 box instead of the powered sub. It will take more work, more wire, another amp, etc., but it’s worth it. If they are a real Rockford dealer, I would choose a P300-12 if you want a full-sized powerful subwoofer.

People have different tastes in sound, but the C1 versions don’t sound bad. I believe they are pretty good. Is there something better? Yes. Will you be sad, though? Most likely not; it’s good stuff. The new silk version C1s are pretty nice, so see if they have anything to show you.
