I have a 2002 Mustang, and I’m upgrading the audio system. I’m planning to get 4 Kicker KS series speakers for the lower doors and rear deck. My stereo (Pioneer AVH-2550NEX) manual mentions that two RCA cables are for midrange and two for highs. Will the KS series work well for mids?
I’m also getting a 5-channel amp to connect everything, including the sub. I’m new to this and could really use some advice or recommendations. Thanks!
What you’re describing is Pioneer’s Network Mode. It switches the RCA outputs from Front, Rear, Subwoofer to Low, Mid, and High. You can choose which one you want.
By the way, what are the JS and KS speakers you mentioned?

I meant the Kicker KS series. How do I change that setting? Is it a button or something in the software?
It’s a software setting. Pretty easy to switch. For your setup, leave it on Front, Rear, Subwoofer.
Run the RCA cables from your stereo to your 5-channel amp. The amp’s output will go to your speakers, and it has built-in crossovers to protect them. The Pioneer head unit probably has similar controls, but you don’t need Network Mode for what you’re doing.
If your car already has separate midrange and tweeters in the doors, you could go for a Kicker KS component set like the KSS6504.
