Is it possible to play YouTube on CarPlay?

Can you somehow mirror a YouTube video on CarPlay for a Volkswagen Jetta?

You can’t! CarPlay is made specifically to not play video as it would be distracting.

That said, some head units allow screen mirroring (but not through CarPlay), and you may need a special MHL adapter or an Apple camera kit for that. At that point, why not just get an iPad and mount it somewhere? It could probably be cheaper.

I just thought it would be cool to do (when parked). I read about a way to use Safari to watch a YouTube video and, when connected to CarPlay, somehow display the video on the car screen.

Those Amazon Android units have all sorts of ways to bypass the anti-distraction rules—that’s probably what you saw. But Sony, Alpine, Kenwood, and Pioneer definitely won’t allow that with CarPlay.

Try getting one of those wireless CarPlay adapters from Amazon. They usually mention if they can play YouTube or Netflix. They cost around $100.
