How would you set up the subwoofers on this 1999 Chevy Cruze? I listen to 90s hip hop and rap mostly. Since you like rap, the port was set to 30-32 Hz. It’s an easy song to use a sub with a Fs of 28–33; if you use a sub that shines at 39 Hz, playing low will be difficult. With your little alternator, I would concentrate on playing softly rather than loudly. maybe rms in the 4-500 range. Low qts, in my perspective, around 2.0
Actually how loud you want?
On your Alpine’s sub channel, I would try a single Alpine Bassline 12 placed in a specially made ported box.
Although it won’t be very loud, it would most likely satisfy the rap criteria. I have an Alpine mrv-f405 with two Pioneer 12s operating in a bandpass box. Wasn’t crazy loud but it sounded great.
I still own the amplifier.
Good lord thats a clean crv, I’m jealous!
In the case I ever get this car, which I have 2% chance, where did you ground the stuff in the trunk?
really simple Every corner of the trunk has a cargo tie down; the two on the driver’s side are clearly seen in the first picture. I took out the one just under the amplifier, sanded the chassis, and fastened it in place just beneath the tie down. In the second picture, you can sort of see where it is grounded.
Nothing extraordinary Mostly, it is a daily driver. Right now, each speaker gets 50 watts RMS from me. Occasionally, while I’m working on my other vehicle, I’ll listen to it outdoors.
What do you think is roughly the max rms watts I can put on the stock 90 amp alternator?
Not much, depending on how much trouble you’re willing to tolerate. You already have a 400w 4 channel, so who knows? I’d estimate 500–600ish. You don’t now experience any fading when playing loudly, do you?
I would check to see if there is a newer model or higher trim that can be swapped out for a larger alternator.
