I’m trying to figure out if the price is worth it. I’ve heard the salt series amps are underrated and deliver more watts than listed. Thoughts?
Maybe in terms of rms power, but when it comes to reliability, definitely.
Just because an amp can push power doesn’t mean it’s good. I bet brands like Audiopipe and Rockville have amps that can hit 5k or more (just guessing here). But they’ll probably have more distortion and won’t last as long compared to a Sundown amp. Beefy subs can handle dirty watts, sure, but they’ll last longer with clean power.
Nothing bad to say about Sundown salt amps—they’re super reliable. But I’d say a ruthless 4500 could challenge the salt 4k. Even with the 500-watt difference, both are beasts that demand serious power. Just my two cents!
