Are Amazon remote starters any good?

The title pretty much says it all. I haven’t checked prices for aftermarket remote starters since the early 2000s, and they were super expensive back then. So, I was surprised to see how affordable they are online now (No Temu, please). Does anyone here have experience with them?

I’d stick with Compustar.

What year, make, and model are you looking at? Does it have a key start or a push button start?

Not the person who posted this, but I’m looking at this brand too. I have a 2015 Camry with an H key. I like the proximity unlock feature.

@Sky
It needs to be the black key, not the grey key.

You’ll need the DC3 brain, TL5 T-Harness, and then your choice of keyfob. The Proximity Unlock requires either the R5 or T13 keyfobs, or you can get the EZGOII and keep it in your pocket.

Stick to name brand remote starters. If you haven’t installed one before, go to a shop. You could end up messing things up if you try to do it yourself.

Yep, it’s probably not the best idea to go cheap on something that’s connected to your car’s complicated electrical system.

Just buy a Compustar. They’re affordable and they actually work.

They’re cheap for a reason.

I got a Start X remote starter from Amazon and I’ve had no issues with it for 2 years. It was pretty easy to install too.

I installed a Start X in my 2010 Rav4. The only problem I’ve had was when my toddler son pressed the lock button 3 times in a row, which started the car in the driveway without me knowing. But the remote start works great every time.

I have a 2012 CR-V. The remote start has worked perfectly every time I needed it. A friend put one in his Durango, and he hasn’t had any issues either.

Just make sure to keep those keys out of reach — at least it shuts off after 15 minutes.

No, absolutely not, and I doubt any shop would install them for you.
