Audiomobile drivers are great, especially the new Encore series. Even their older models work incredibly well in tiny sealed boxes. My friend switched from JL W3s to an Audiomobile GTS 2112 (not even their latest model) and saw a huge improvement. Don’t overthink it—these are top-notch subs.
@Arielle
I’m eyeing the Evos because they fit in super shallow enclosures. The design lets you place the motor right against the box wall. Thanks for the input!
Hertz MPS subs are worth checking out. They perform better than JLs for the price and include grills. Better throw and power handling too.

What do you mean by ‘throw’? People use that term differently.
@Ashby
I mean the amount the cone can move. It’s the sub’s travel range.

Oh, like xmax? That’s what I’ve heard it called.

Yeah, xmax is part of it. There’s also xmech, which is the mechanical limit. Xmax is more useful since it’s within the motor’s linear range.
@Peyton
Why would xmech even matter? Pushing to that point seems risky.

It’s not essential to know unless you’re doing SPL competitions where output matters more than anything else.
