I was a big MTX fan back in the late 90s and early 2000s. Still got some old Blue Thunder amps and a Thunder 7000 10 hanging around in the garage. Just curious if anyone’s tried the newer stuff. It’s priced like it’s high-quality, but I don’t see a lot of people using it these days. Thoughts?
There’s a guy here who goes by MTXprez and he’s been around now and then, standing behind MTX. Might be worth looking up his posts to see what he says. I worked for MTX back in 2003-2005, and they had high standards back then. No reason to think they wouldn’t now.
@Blair
You beat me to it! Yep, he’s a great guy who really believes in MTX. Maybe he’ll drop by and give his take.
Old-school MTX is solid stuff. Hard to go wrong, especially if you can reach out to someone who really knows the brand.
@Blair
Honestly, the guy just talks. He once asked for my email and address to send me something, then went totally silent. Never heard from him again. I’m starting to doubt he’s even connected to MTX.
Man, that brings back memories! I had a pair of MTX Blue Thunder subs around the same time. Thanks for the nostalgia!

Oh yeah, I remember those! I used to run two Thunder 7000 10s and a Thunder 1500dx in my old '95 Ram. That 1500dx was MTX’s first class D mono amp, and it really brought those 10s to life.
@Whit
Wish I could remember what amp I had back then, but I just know it hit hard! I had those subs in the back of my '89 GMC Jimmy (full-size). Regret letting go of both the ride and the stereo setup!
Those old Blue Thunder hatchback wedges from the early 90s were awesome! Don’t see stuff like that around much anymore.

I miss my 15" Terminators! I still have the MTX Bass Zone 2 tape the shop gave me when I got them. Those were the days.
Just picked up a used set of the newer MTX 5512s in a ported enclosure. Running them on a 1000-watt Rockford Fosgate amp, and they sound fantastic. Definitely not disappointed!
Got a pair of 7500 Thunder 10s, planning to install them by the end of the month. Going to power them with a RE Audio USX65k at 1 ohm. Can’t wait to see how they sound!
