Did this guy mess up my system?

I have a 2019 Chevrolet Equinox Premier with the stock head unit. A few months ago, I decided to get into subwoofers. I made the mistake of buying used subwoofers, a box, and an amp. Soon, I realized it wasn’t a good choice, so I bought a new amp and box. I went to a professional car audio shop to have everything installed. He knew the subs weren’t good but installed them anyway. I just want to mention that he seemed more interested in the money than the quality of the installation. Anyway, I didn’t pick up the car myself, my mom did. He told her they worked on it for so long that he should have charged me more. I thought that was strange, and I didn’t get why it took so long. After my mom started driving it, the bass was blasting randomly, even when the radio was off, and she said it smelled like an electrical fire. Later, I found out that I needed an ANC bypass to stop the unwanted noise. I installed it myself, and that fixed it. However, since then, I’ve had to turn my amps (I’ve tried two) all the way up, along with the bass boost, just to hear some bass.

I’m wondering if the frequencies sent to the amp and subs caused damage to the wiring, as the wiring is burnt in some areas. I’m going to talk to the guy about it, but I want to know if I should ask him to open things up and check it out. This could be his fault for not knowing that newer vehicles have the ANC system. As a professional with 60 years of experience, he should have known to add a bypass.

I’d appreciate any advice. Thanks.

What type of amps are you using and where did you get the signal from?

This is probably part of the issue. I’m waiting for a new amp to arrive, but the first one was a Rockville Krypton 2500 Peak, then I tried a Rockville RVA-M2. The signal comes from somewhere at the back of the head unit. Like I mentioned, I’ll talk to the guy to get more details on what’s happening behind the scenes.

@Yan
If it’s just for a sub, I’d recommend getting an amp that has high-level inputs and getting the signal from a speaker that has bass. But I’m no expert.
