Battery or alternator upgrade… what’s the first step?

I finally bought my subs this Black Friday—got four 6.5-inch subs, each about 400 rms, and I have a 2k amp on the side for now. I’m planning to build my box and install everything ASAP, but I want to see how my truck’s stock battery handles it first. I’m also planning to add another 4-channel (D4S-JP84) for a center console box with mids and super tweeters. I know my stock electrical system won’t handle it. With the addition of the JP84, I’ll be pushing around 2800 watts. Any advice on what steps I should take before jumping into buying a new battery, alternator, or secondary battery? I’ve never had a setup that required this much power, so I’m not sure what upgrades I need. I’ve googled some info but could use more details. Any advice is appreciated—thanks in advance!

First, install a big 3 wiring upgrade, then get an AGM battery, and finally a high-output alternator. Do them in that order.

I’m in a similar situation as the person who posted this… when you say AGM battery before the alternator, are you talking about an isolated second battery or just a drop-in replacement for the main battery? Thanks!

@Talon
Just a drop-in replacement for the main battery.

Thanks for the info!
