Atmos encoded audio in 8 discrete channels in Car

I posted some pictures and was asked for more. I’m much better at installing music, it took me a few tries.

Ford Fusion SE Hybrid is the car.

I changed the stock high voltage battery and made the buck converter better. Hook up everything straight to the battery.

Connect a 4G or 5G hotspot to a Raspberry Pi that is running Kodi and Tidal as a source unit. HDMI to the head unit for the UI With HDMI going to DAC and 8-channel audio coming in to VXi800/8, Fiber to a VXI hub, then to two VXi600s

There are Focal Utopia woofers and k2 tweeters in the front and back doors. Dash in the middle: 5KM Two Focal AC690 and two Focal 3KM subs are on the back deck. Two MJM612s in a 1/4 wave Tline.

Plays music that has been compressed in Atmos in 8 separate channels.

What are you using as an upmixer for Atmos?

It’s not upmix. It streams from Tidal in 8 discrete channels. The raspberry pi with kodi can handle upmix, but there’s no need.

It’s hard to get good sq. It takes more than a lot of money. It takes work. It looks like you worked really hard.

Very nice. What kind of car is it?

Even though I think surround music is cool, I’d rather have all of those sound channels be active. This fucks hard either way.

Wow, that’s really cool! Because I have a lot of RasPi and other single board computers lying around, this made me think of some ideas. This has made me want to learn more about Atmos. What do you use with the Pi’s analog outs?

Also, how do you feel about the t-line? It looks like it’s set pretty high (about 48Hz?). Are there any problems with low power or dumping at low frequencies? And that’s another thing I want to try in the future, whenever I have time to work on it in the garage. But mine would be a little bigger. It would have a custom-built 18" in a line that is about 10 feet long, 28Hz, 200 square feet in area, and about 7KW of power available. Everything was put into a coffin in the back of a 1966 Cadillac hearse. It could get windy.

Just as an FYI, from what I have heard Billie doesn’t do shit other than provide vocals. Her brother is the nerd.
